This course is based on experiential workshops designed to enable the participants to intuitively embrace the innate creative potential that resides within all of us. Through individual and group experience this course introduces participants to an understanding of the therapeutic potential of Art as Therapy. It also forms a pathway to our Diploma in Person Centred Art Psychotherapy.
The course provides an enhanced understanding of Art Therapy through individual and more advanced group workshops. The participants are encouraged to explore and develop their trust in the liberating creative potential of art within the therapeutic process. It is experiential and explores Humanistic and Integrative concepts providing a link to the Diploma Course.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE in Art Psychotherapy Skills Course
This course specifically explores the practical application of art as a therapeutic intervention. It facilitates the development of professional Art Psychotherapy skills supported by Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Integrative theoretical underpinning. It also provides in-house practical experience supported by group supervision and forms an integral part of the Diploma course.
Accredited by the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, this course merges Person Centred Counselling philosophy with Neuroscience and the creative and practical application of Art Psychotherapy. This combination is chosen to assist learners of Art Psychotherapy in understanding and integrating the traditional values of present-day counselling and psychotherapy whilst simultaneously underpinning the practical theory and application of Art Psychotherapy and Neuroscience.
Dublin Art Therapy College adheres to the training criteria outlined by the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and learners uphold its ethical values. As such, the course also includes internal group supervision which covers the art therapy aspect of clinical placement. We actively encourage learners to use a variety of mediums for their case presentation including any images made as a result of engaging clients in art-making, personal art made as a result of self-supervision, placement supervisor reports and case notes. Learners are required to present case studies for assessment over the duration of the course.
